I am pleased to be the first entry for the name Nield! Been researching the nield name for about 10 years. have traced my direct line back to Staleybridge, Cheshire circa 1800. William Nield married Charlotte Henshaw 1816 in Mottran in Longdendale. They had a son, Benjamin Nield in 1819 and i have been able to trace him on censuses, until his death in Ashton Under lynne Workhouse. John Nield, my Great-grandfather, was born in Stalybridge in 1844, my grandfather Fred Nield was born in 1888 at Gomersal, Dewsbury, he married Ethel Hirst, they had one son, my father Graham, and one daughter, Mavis who later became Loughsborough. Have lots of details of extended family
