Find Ancestors

My father recently died, followed by his younger sister a couple of months later - and it is now too late for me to get information from them - so can you help fill in lots of spaces about our family. My grandfather was John William Taylor - (born around 1900). I understand he may have had some connection with either the Royal Navy or the British Merchant Navy. He died sometime around the end of WW2. My grandmother was Mary Elizabeth Taylor - (maiden name Killen - born around 1897 - possibly in or around County Claire, Ireland). She was a well-known member of the Spiritualist Church - often taking sessions in some of England's largest halls. During WW2 many of her younger children (including my dad) were evacuated out of London, and my grandmother was 'bombed out of her house' at least four times. Following the death of my grandfather - she married a Russell D. Morton (born 1919). With some of her children - my grandmother moved to New Zealand in 1956, and died later that year. My grandparents had 12 children (the order in age is not necessarily correct): - Alan, (my father), born 12.5.1928 in West Hartlepool. He was evalucated from London during WW2 into the North of England; attended Grange School (somewhere); joined the RAF at the end of WW2 and served in Malaya before being injured in an aircraft accident. Moved to NZ in 1953 - travelling as an 'Assisted Immigrant' on the Captain Cook. - William (called Billy) - the oldest in the family - born around 1920 - who became an RAF pilot but was killed over Belgium in 1940-41; - Mary, born later. She moved to New Zealand with her mother in 1956, and died during 1965. - Eileen, born 1933. She moved to New Zealand with her mother in 1956, and later moved to Canada where she is possibly still living. - Patricia Nola, my dad's little sister - born in London in 1940. She moved to New Zealand with her mother in 1956, and died in 2003. - Edward, my dad's little brother - born in the early 1930's. He moved to New Zealand with his mother in 1956, lost contact with the rest of the family and died in about 2000. - James Harold, my dad's little brother - born in 1941. He moved to New Zealand with his mother in 1956. - Dora, born around in 1930. She married Victor Taylor (a sailor in the Royal Navy) before moving to New Zealand around 1950, and died in New Zealand during 1964. - Jessie & Helen, born during the early 1900's. They stayed in England when some of their family moved to New Zealand in 1956. - Frank - born during the early 1920's (he was a brother close in age to my father). He stayed in England when some of the rest of the family moved to New Zealand in 1956. Can anyone help me in my quest to put the missing pieces together of my childhood? I realise that there aren't many people left who could shed light on this family, but I hope it's not too late to get some information!
