Valerie Dawson HALL - DAVIES - MOSTYN, GREENFIELD, HOLYWELL, FLINTSHIRE My great grandfather was a John Hall who lived in Greenfield. He married an Elizabeth. I believe John's mother was closely related to the Lord Mostyn who died in the early, mid 1900s. (When this Lord Mostyn died, his photograph was printed in the Liverpool Echo, and John was the image of him, so it was assumed it was true) John also used recount that his mother was known as 'the Belle of Holywell.' My grandfather, William Edward Hall, and his siblings were also born in Greenfield, but at some point moved to the Liverpool area and the Bootle part of it in particular. William was a great footballer and was made to choose between his talent and a 'proper job' on the trams. That didn't stop him though, because he played for Liverpool Tramways Football Team and won many lovely winners medals. I should be grateful to hear from anyone who knows something of the history of Holywell, or the Mostyn family. John's mother remarried to a Mr. Davies, to whom he had two daughters who never married. It is believed that they lived all their lives in the Holywell area.
