Trying to find any family member of my Grandparents- Ernest MARTIN born 1876-died 1967 at the age of 91 and Laura Tamar Martin born 1882-died 1963 aged 81. Both deaths were registerd in Uckfield, East Grinstead, East Sussex They lived for many years at No. 4 Hill View, Forest Row. They had 5 children as far as I know. - Bert, who married Vi and had three children, Betty, Peggy and Brian. Reg. who married Emm and had three children, two are twins-Tony and Blanche and brother Reg. Also Margaret who married Arthur-no children. Dot who had a son Charles. Dot married Ernest Ashby they had a son Clive who was in the Air Force and died in a tragic road accident at a very youg age. And then my Dad-Gordon who married Emily Beer -three children. Dorothy, Gordon and June(Me) Any help out there please, I am struggling.

Hi, I think I may be able to help.

My mother was Sally Martin (maiden name).
She was born in Uckfield to a Brian Martin and Jean Clark in 1956.

I have a record that says Jean and Brian were married in Uckfield in 1954.

Jean was born and lived in East Grinstead, died 2007.
Brian lived in East Grinstead at some stage (this is the next town to Forest Row), then divorced Jean and moved to Worthing. Brian died in about 2005.

I guess, back then, Uckfield/East Grinstead were the same area??
