My father was Herbert Davies, born in the Chester area, 4 July, 1917. He understands his father was Herbert Harboard. My father's mother Annie Davies, was also born in Chester. Was unmarried and died in 1924 of pneumonia, in the West Derby area. We understand that she owned or managed (with a partner?) a haberdashery/tailoring, shop or business, in the Liverpool/West Derby area. She was a maid in several hotels in the North Wales, Liverpool and Chester areas. My father's grandmother was also Annie Davies (nee Gillespie). Does anyone recognise any of these names within this context? Thank you Lynn McCready, Chester |
