Fraser Report 14 Aug 2005 11:16

Three recently aquainted distant cousins are up against a brick wall regarding an elusive Mitchell family in the St.Pancras/Marylebone area of London in the 1860's. What we have is Robert Alexander Mitchell (painter) possibly married to an Ann/Annie of Hertford. He is dead by 1881 and his son , also Robert Alexander Mitchell (carman) marries Elizabeth Page in 1882. They go on to have Jessie 1882, Maud 1884, Frank 1887, Charles 1888, Hope 1890, Theodore 1893. Robert jnr may have been born 1858/59/60 as no birth cert. yet fond appears correct. One family living at 11, Henry St in 1861 and 6, Henry St in 1871 , has some good matches. The head is Alexander Mitchell, painter, who is dead by 1871. The wife is Ann born Abbotts, Hertfordshire and they have two sons, Robert 1856 and Alexander 1860. Also sisters Susan and Jane. The family appears to have moved from what is now the Watford area to St. Pancras/Marylebone. Any info/help/clues greatfully received. Fraser Mitchell
