I'm at a standstill trying to find where my gt.grand-father came from. His name was William Henry Scott, born 1832 died in Wellington ,New Zealand in 1902. One son (that I know of )also named William. There was a Fencible soldier who came to N.Z. of the same name ,who landed in Auckland with family. Quite a few men ,termed Fencible Pensioners(form-erly soldiers who had left the army) were brought to N.Z. to protect the colonists from the Maoris. I was told that my Wm.Henry was Irish so that makes it more difficult as that other W. Henry Scott was from Belfast ! Hope someone can help me ,Regards, Valerie. What a great site this is.!!!!!!! |
