HI Patricia, My husband's father was born in St. Thomas Ontario. His father emigrated to Canadain 1858, they were farmers. My father in law moved to Montreal and my husband was born there. We live in GB his grandfather was called Hugh. Regards Sylvia.

I am trying to trace my mother's family back to mostly the Skelton, Cumberland area from the 1747 approx. 1850's. My information is from bits & pieces left from relatives. Joseph WATSON (b.1747) m. in 1772 to Jane SOWERBY (b. 1740); children Joseph 1774; Betty 1777; Mathew 1779; Mary 1781; Jane 1783; Mark 1786. -- Mathew (above) m. in 1811 to Elizabeth BIRD (b. 1792) children: John 1812; Joshua 1816; Mathew 1821; Isaac 1824; Adam 1826; Christopher 1828; Elizabeth 1832. --- Isaac (son of Mathew above) b. 1824 m. in 1849 to Frances NICHOLSON. children: Henry 1847; Mathew Isaac 1848; Amelia 1850; (not sure if remaining children were born in England or had immigrated to Canada (Somerville Twnsp area - Peterborough ...) Isaac Jr 1852; Frances 1854; John 1857; Elizabeth 1859; Christopher 1861; Mary Jane 1863; Joseph 1865; Sarah 1868. -- Henry (son of Isaac above) m. in 1866 Emma SANGINES children: Lucinda 1866; John 1872; William Isaac Nicholson 1875; Frances 1879; Lillie May 1881. It seems any information after about 1860's .. the Watson had left England and come to Canada to settle mainly in the Somerville area / Badow County which is mainly Peterborugh, Ontario today.
