Hello, I am trying to get information about my maternal Grandfather THOMAS LAWRENCE O'BRIEN, he was born in 1881, in Banagher, County Offaly (formaly Kings County I believe)EIRE. His father Francis is described as a gamekeeper, I do not know his mothers name, we think he had two brothers, one was killed in the Great War, he also had a sister(name unknown) who was a well known Gaelic singer. He served in the British Army, on his marriage to my Grandmother in November 1908 his occupation is described as, Private 21st Empress of India's Lancers, from the marriage he had three daughters and one son.He also served during the Great War, I found that a Troop Seargeant T O'brien had transferred from the regiment to the Veterinary Corps in 1915, which ties in with family stories about him being good with Horses. He died in about 1950.We spent a day in the Public Records Office, Kew looking through the O'briens in the army records with no luck, we were told 50% of them were lost due to bombing in WW2. We have also contacted the General Records Office Dublin with no luck, perhaps someone out there can help,Thank You
