Hello, I'm trying to find more info on my grandad's grandad William Jackson (born 1863, Wombwell South Yorks). I found him on the 1901 census...he's married to Annis (nee Handley) here and they had many children including my grandad's mum Margaret. He's also on earlier censuses with the Aythorne family all from around Marr. What I'm really wanting to know is more info about his parents. I do have certificate to show his marriage to Annis in 1888 (Marr) and his father is named as Thomas Jackson (deceased). I'm really puzzled about who his mother could be (one of the Aythornes?) He's down on the 1871 census as grandson to Mary Aythorne (71). Could his mother be Harriet,or one of the other Aythorne sisters? On this 1871 census, Harriet is only down as being 23 so that would make her young to have had William (then 8 years). Also Harriet seems young to be Mary's daughter. Plus there's another grandson William Aythorne (4 years). All Aythornes in censuses seem to be born in Marr whereas William Jackson's born in Wombwell. If anyone could anyone shed any light to help me solve this puzzle, I'd be really happy! Thanks a lot. |
