I'm looking for the birth /parents of LILLIE ALICE ROBERTS born either Wrexham, Flint, Wales or Chester in 1868/9. She married James Lawrence in Lancs. and later moved to Berkshire. She was adopted before the age of 2 by Joseph Bancroft of Cheadle, Cheshire. I don't know why. iIlegit or orphaned? However, her father is named on her marriage certificate as John Roberts, joiner. It doesn't say deceased. Maybe they didn't put that anyway. Her adoptive family have one daughter aged abt. 16 at the time. Maybe she-Lois Bancroft- was the real mother. Lois never married. |
