the name hughes is irish. in irish it is written like this--macAodh. it has a coat of arms and it,s motto is --'Fortuna faveur' .my grt- grandmother was a hughes. her name was catherine and she married my grandfather in sligo. they came to scotland during the potato faminein ireland. i would like to trace any of my ancestors from that side of my family. cheers |
