Strong chance of connection.
For possible copyright reasons to follow this next part you have to have read The History of Myddle by Richard Gough or An English Rural Community .... by David Hey (see message 16/12/2003)

'Eagle & Child Inn, 49 St Giles, Oxford'
Look for Tew and Jew.
www.headington.org.uk
Narrow building with old dark wooden panelled booths to either side at entrance. Possible for children to sit right at back in restaurant area (no under 18's after 6pm).
Giant chocolate fudge cake lived up to promise - two of us fought it! Walking distance from Pitt Rivers, Natural History Museum Oxford City Museum and the newly reopened Ashmolean Museum (November 2009) - all very good.
There are other Eagle and Child hotels etc in the right geographic region, but whether they have a Jukes connection would require further investigation.

Put 'Eagle Child' in search bar and click on 'images' above bar for a good view of Oxford pub sign and other Eagle and Child pub signs and establishments.

"British History Online'
Go to "Text search" then search for Juckes
