The text below from Brian Robertson is utter rubbish. For a start, woad went out of fashion a few hundred years before the Battle of Bannockburn. My pictish ancestors would have worn woad when they faced the Romans. You've watched Braveheart a few too many times, my friend. The name Robertson has nothing whatsoever to do with Robert the Bruce, it comes from Grizzled Robert who brought the murderers of James I (of Scots) to justice in the 15th century. And, I would love to know where you get the idea that the Robertsons were tea ladies. The Robertsons have a long and proud tradition of doing their bit in battles, from Bannockburn to Culloden. |
