Relating also to Kimber and Clout familes. Elizabeth Davis daughter of William Davis Jnr and ? O'Donald, was born in 1825 in Ireland was baptised in Ireland. Died Sat 15 September 1900 in 5 Selwyn St, Ponsonby, Home of her daughter Elizabeth Small at age 75 and was buried on 18 September 1900 in Otahuhu Anglican Cemetery. Elizabeth married Joseph Clout on 22 June 1840 in St Thomas Cathedral, Portsmouth, Hampshire. William Davis Jnr. son of William Davis and Margaret ?, was born in December 1805 in Parish of Stephany, Malta and was baptised on 11 December 1805 in St Pauls Church, Malta. - military career: from 1812. William was only 3 when his father died. At age of seven years he enlisted as a frummer of the 58th regiment. His description was recorded as: 3'6' high, fair complexion, blue eyes, brown hair. After his first enlistment period of 18 years terminated, he swore the oath at Colorado, Ceylon to continue to serve until discharged. He signed 'Drummer Wm.Davis. William Davis jnr. served in the West Indies, five years and four months while under age - 30 December 1828 to 18 June 1835. Except for a period 1 June 1829 to 24 September of the same year, when William Davis is served as a corporal before entering reduced in rank, he remained as a drummer during his service of 23years and 47 days. When William was discharged at Glasgow on 9 October 1840 he was described as 'aged 36 years, 11 months and worn out. 5'9' tall, light brown hair, blue eyes, fair complexion. Occupation - labourer: conduct good' Children from William's marriage to ? O'Donald are: - William M Davis born 15 January 1811 in Smithland, Livingston, Kentucky USA and died on 24 October 1896 at age 85. William married Mehetable RONDEAU on 1 September 1833 in Livingston Co, Kentucky USA. - Elizabeth Davis (born in 1825 in Ireland) info as above.
