I'm trying to find the origin of the forename Whitfield which crops up quite often in my 'Jackson' branch. My father was John Whitfield Jackson 1915. I can find Whitfield Jacksons going back nearly 200 years but as yet not the origin. It is mainly in the Weardale area of County Durham. Any hints would be appreciated. Thanks Margaret Britton
