Robertson Tartans. As far as I am aware there are only Five tartans for the Robertsons, I discount the so called Dress tatan with the white back gound as it is an unofficial tartan. All official tartans have to be registered. The Tartans are: Red Robertson, Ancient Red (the same as previous but the colours are more 'faded') Hunting Tartan with a green background, Ancient Hunting (again the same as Hunting but the colours are more 'faded') The last is one I only know as The Ancient Tartan, and memory serves me it is the same design as the hunting only with a brown back ground, this is more likely to have been in use before the bright colours appeared. Thats the five, I do not include the tartans of the Clan Chief or the Chieftans because as you know theirs are only for use of them (or immediate family?) |
