I am trying to to find out more about my Grandmother Sarah Jane Harris. At some point she married my grand father James Henry Wedgebury of Gravesend but my late father Alfred James Wedgebury believed that his parents were not married when he was born in 1918. From what he told me she was a remarkable and tough woman bringing up a large family when my Grandfather was out of work. Amongst other things she took in laundry from local riverside hotels and according to Dad she could 'fight any man in our alley' She's the one I hope i take after! I was contacted by a member of her family before Christmas but my computer was stolen and I lost all the information on it. I have only recently found the time to look into this since I retired from teaching. |
