I want to extend my ALLEN family tree upwards and downwards. My gg grandfather was WILLIAM HENRY ALLEN (born 1846/7 Birmingham). His father was WILLIAM ALLEN; both were ironmasters and operated the Washington Foundry, Commercial St, Birmingham. WILLIAM Jnr married CAROLINE DEAKIN (born 1849, Stoke) in 1870 in Edgbaston, Birmingham and they had three children, CAROLINE (born 1872 Birmingham), ELLEN (born 1874 Birmingham) and WILLIAM THOMAS (born 1876 Birmingham). CAROLINE I know about (but more details are always welcome); Ellen I think died unmarried in Bewdley, Worcs and I would like more details. WILLIAM T I know little about but I think he married LOUIE and lived in Birmingham. I think they had a daughter EDNA who married ALBERT REEVES and lived in Birmingham. WILLIAM Jnr abandoned his family and ran away to the US in 1881 (after the census) and was not heard from again but it is believed he was successful in some sort of engineering manufacturing. Another realation was WILLIAM HENRY ALLEN (born 1870s) who died in the Titanic. His Father was ALFRED ALLEN. It was recorded that "Titanic WILLIAM" was going to meet an uncle in New York; it is intrigueing to speculate that ALFRED was WILLIAM Jnr's brother so that WILLIAM Jnr could have been the uncle "Titanic WILLIAM" was going to meet. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who can extend the story in both directions. I still have more details and photos if any one is interested. |
