My Paternal Grandmother Ada Florence Walker, was born 13/09/1884 in Dublin Ireland,according to the 1901 census her mother Matilda(nee Goodrich) O`Connor was born in London in 1866, In the Barracks of the Coldstream Guards. Her father who was a Guardsman, later became a Warder at Parkhurst prison on the Isle of Wight. Just to add further confusion My Grandmothers Natural Father may have been named Hickey or Hockey. An educated man a published poet (according to family Legend) and the owner of a bookshop in Dublin. He is also reputed to have been shot and later hanged for treason or sedition. Great Grand mother went on to have children by two other men. The first, was Joseph Walker, I believe he came from Saddleworth in Yorkshire and I believe that they married in Rotherham Yorkshire in the 3rd quarter of 1885. It is believed that he was murdered (poisoned) in Farnham Hampshire in 1892 they had three children,Joseph R Walker c1886 was born in Chatham (Kent) and became a high ranking Police officer . John Goodrich Walker was born in Aldershot (Hants) September 1890 and was a high ranking Police officer at Scotland Yard He was awarded the MBE. Mary Ann(Annie)Walker was also born in Aldershot(hants) c1892. She then apparently married George P O`Connor about 1893 their oldest child, Kathleen O`Connor was born in Aldershot (Hants) c1894. The next was Norah O`Connor born in Portsmouth (Hants) c1898. The last that I have any written confirmation of was George W O`Connor born Portsmouth (Hants) January 1901 also reputed to have been a high ranking Police officer.Ethel Margery O`Connor September 1902 was next who had a daughter Patricia. William Goodrich O`Connor was born Portsmouth c1904 Edward Patrick O`Connor was born Portsmouth 1907. I have had four information streams for this report, the first being the family verbal history that was absorbed with food and love as a child and in my youth. The second Was the census of 1901 The third the records of FreeBMD and Patricia. Daughter of Ethel Margery O`Connor who I managed yo trace yesterday 08/12/2003 If anyone is able to shed any light on any of the many mysteries listed above. I wiould be most gratefull, if we are related even better.
