My father was Douglas Charles Williams, Group Captain (Rtd) when he died in 1994; he was born in 1920 to Horace Ernest and Lily (Lilian) Williams, nee Alders(t)on in Windsor. At the time his father Horace was RSM at Eton College, and previously he was in the Scots Guards, fighting in the Boer War and WW1. Lilian's father was in the Coldstream Guards. When he retired, Horace and Lilian were the Landlord/lady of the Railyway Inn in Ipswich, a reward from the owners of the brewery because Horace had saved the life of his officer in WW1 who was a member of family of the brewery in Ipswich - think they still own the brewery, and the local football team. Of course Williams is a very common name but my brother and I are the only remaining members of that family; my brother and his son (both Andy Williams !) being the only ones to carry the name forward. Anyone recognising any of this ?!
