Does anybody out there have a link to the Watson family of Greta Bridge (Farmers) in the Parish of Rokeby. It is now Durham but was North Yorks - Richmondshire. 1901 census large family - 9 children 6 daughters 3 sons. There must be descendants somewhere!! Head of family had a brother in Winston Durham (half way between Barnard Castle and Pierce Bridge.

Hi Danielle

I don't have any info on the Watsons, I'm afraid, but I do have a link to Greta Bridge. Relatives of mine - the Ward family - lived in the area for a couple of generations, I think, including 6 children born between 1891 and 1904. Seeing as Greta Bridge is such a small place, I think they almost certainly will have known the Watsons. Perhaps some of the children went to school together! The Wards lived in the house that is now the Morritt Arms pub, if you know the area.

Of the six children (Annie, John, Charles, Mary, Richard, James {and I think there might be a seventh}) I only have information on the marriage and children of one, James. I know it's not that likely, just because they lived near doesn't mean they're related, of course, but it is just possible that one of them married a Watson. I don't know how to find out though, but I just thought I'd mention it!
