Charles Davis I have a Great-great-grandfather Charles Davis who would have been born circa 1800 in England, his son my G-Grandfather Thomas DAVIS born about 1828, who came to Adelaide, South Australia on a date unknown, he married in 1878 to Ellen Jane JAMES. His marriage certificate documents just said he was ‘English’ and a ‘widower’ His occupation was listed initially as a carpenter then later as a builder. In 1879 he had a son Henry Malcolm DAVIS in Adelaide, in 1881 Ellen died in childbirth in hospital. We have no knowledge of Thomas after that, at the age of 2 ½ Henry was put in a home and stayed there until 12 years when he went to work in the mines. Do you have a missing Thomas DAVIS? Ernie Davis. [email protected] |
