Hello to everyone on the board, I hope someone out there can help me or point me in the right direction. I'm looking for a death record of my Great, Great Grandad JAMES WILSON (1841-1875.) My dates are right, I have his birth certificate (born 16/07/1841 in Birkenhead, Cheshire, England,) and his burial record gives the date (9/1/1875) but no death records and therefore no certificate. The woman at the registry office said although he was buried locally (Flaybrick Cemetery, Birkenhead,) he probably didn't *die* locally. I've searched all counties using the years I've got for him but no luck. I have a sneaking suspicion that the answer to this puzzle lies with his last occupation... according to his burial records he was a shipwright... a builder and repairer of ships. How far would this have taken him from his home? Were there any military skirmishes in 1875 that he might have been caught up in? What caused his death at just 34 years old? Any thoughts, ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated. |
