Hi there I am trying to find the link between the Brown family, originally of Carlton, West Yorkshire and the Stead family who originate in Rothwell, West Yorkshire. I have the Brown family bible in my posession and was always told by my (deceased) Father that it was our family bible. Having spent the last year or so researching the Stead family history and having recently re-acquired the bible I now seek this (currently) missing link! The bible refers to the following persons: Timothy Brown (born Carlton) about 1798, died 19th March, 1871 aged 73 Timothy Brown (son of above) born December 1845 married Emma Smith November 17th 1862 They had the following children: William Smith born 4th December 1860 (before marriage!) George Brown born 17th April 1863 Tom Brown born 31st July 1864 Ada Elizabeth Brown born 13th September 1866 died 1st Aug 1870 Joe Brown born 16th November 1868 died 1st Sept 1879 John Brown born 27th June 1870 died 1st March 1874 Ada Brown born 2nd October 1872 died 14th March 1874 Mary Brown born 19th August 1874 Nancy Brown born 30th November 1877 Louisa Brown born 16th November 1879 I have found the Browns (and Smiths) on the 1881 census, living in Rothwell, where the Stead were based but CANNOT yet find the family link! Can anyone help please? Thanks Paul Stead |
