Sue Green
I'm trying to find out where in Ireland my great gandparents came from to Glasgow in the early 19th century. They were Cornelius Green (1835) and Catherine McDonald (approx. 1842). Both reported to be born in Ireland with some indications of Fermanagh and Donegal. Cornelius' parents were Charles Green and Bridget Gallagher who did not apparently live in Glasgow and Catherine's were Bernard McDonald and either Mary Quin or Catherine McLintoch. Bernard McDonald certainly lived in Glasgow. Cornelius and Catherine had both been married before (to Grace Gallagher and Patrick Rodger) and started married life with 3 children between them - Mary Green and John & Ann Rodger. It is not clear who the parents of these two Rodger children were - certainly Catherine is recorded as their mother but they seem to have been born too late for Patrick to be their father(he died in 1860 - they were born 1860 and 1864). They had another 8 children together - Catherine,Joseph, Mary, Simon, Andrew, Rose Ann, Daniel,Charles (not in order) and lived in the Springburn Area of Glasgow. If any of this is familiar to you please contact me.
