Hi Amy Elizabeth Jones, born in 1901 I’m trying to find members of my husband’s family. His grandmother was Amy Elizabeth Jones, born in 1901 in Dover, she married Albert Charles Woolcock in 1923. I believe her father was in the Armed Forces and that the family were stationed at Dover Castle. She had a number of siblings: George – No other info. Will – No other info. Stan – No other info. Fred – No other info. Albert – No other info. Annie – who married a man by the name of Cashmore. I believe I have found Annie in the 1901 census (as Florence Annie Mabel as aged 5 in 1901?) Leetie – who I believe lived in Lydd – who married a Maurice (Morris) Shepherd. Dorothy – known as Dot – and married a Major Holyland. Ivy – No other info. Agnes – who married a Jackson and went to live in America. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hi Vanessa,

Re. your post of 14th March 2007 in the "Trying to find" section on the Genes Reunited site.

With the release of the 1911 UK census I have found the name Woolcock figures in my ancestry.
Namely, my maternal grandmother, Sarah Ann Woolcock, born 2nd June 1885, became Sarah Coates on Christmas Day 1904, died around 1943, to the best of my recollection.

Having this "new" knowledge I looked her up on the 1901 census and found the following:

Her parents were:
Bennett Woolcock, born 1854,
Louisa, born 1862.

Bennett was a police constable at the time. He was born in Newlyn, Cornwall. Louisa was born in Huddersfield, Yorkshire.

Children:
Bennett, b 1883;
Sarah, b 1885;
Charles, b1887;
Robert, b 1888;
Maria, b 1890;
Jane, b 1892;
Maude, b 1894;
Julia, b 1896.

All dates of birth plus or minus one year.

At the time of this census - 2nd April 1911 - they were all living at number 5 Viaduct Street, Bethnal Green, London, with the exception of Julia who was at number 13 Wellington Road, West Ham, London, which was the home of her widowed aunt, Maria Fox.
There is no indication as to why she was not with the rest of her family.

I hope this is of some help, though a couple of years later than your posting!!

Does your husband's ancestry match any of the people in this list? Maybe Albert was the son of one of them. If so we may be remotely related.

Brian Bargman
