Hello, I am trying to go back past my paternal grandparents but have met a real block. My father, Douglas Herbert Harrison was divorced from my mother, Helen Elizabeth (nee Bridgeford) when I was eighteen months old, around 1948-9. He waa the son of Herbert Phillip and Hannah Harrison who eventually settled in Sittingbourne, Kent after spending many years in India I believe. Herbert was a lieutenant in the Royal Engineers but the regiment has very little information about him. I have no idea what happened to Douglas Herbert (my father after the divorce and wonder if he remmaried and I may have half-siblings? I would be extremely grateful if anyone has any leads that might help me down this family line. The censuses don't help apart from (I think) I have found my father (in 1901) as a boarder at school in Kent - origin India - but this may be a false lead as he would have been much older than my mother who was born in 1919. Many thanks Lesley Fudge (nee Harrison) |
