I am starting to research my paternal grandmothers line - she was born in Llanasa,Gronant in 1896, as Catherine Jane Evans, she was one of, I think, 13 siblings. Her parents were Robert Evans, a lead miner, and Elizabeth Evans (nee Ellis) - some of the children were Robert, Sarah (later known as Sally) Rebecca, Ralph (died in Gresford colliery disaster in 1934), Harriet & Miriam - I believe there are some surviving descendants in Prestatyn. Catherine was in the Womens Land Army in WW1 and married Arthur James Grainger in 1918 in Machynlleth. If anyone recognises any clues in the above - please contact me |
