Trying to find Wilson

Trying to confirm dob of my grandfather, Thomas Connely Wilson. He always maintained that he was born in Ireland and this is confirmed by 1901 census. Cannot find bc and even his army records give two different years of birth, 1897 and 1898. DC says born 1899. Also looking for bc or dc for my gt.gt. grandfather John Wilson or John Wilson Jack. I have found his marriage certificate dated 11/11/1961 in Glasgow. On 1881 census he gives his birthplace as Yetholm, Roxburgh around 1834. Can anyone help with the above or suggest where else I can look. Have tried BMD records and IGI. Thank you.
