Hit a brick wall and need some help, does the following sound anyway familiar to anybody. I am try to find details of my g.gm who was born Emma Wilson around 1898 at a guess. We believe she is from the East End of London but all we know is her name and have no details of her or her parents or siblings which means I haven’t been able to find any records. Emma was originally married to someone with the surname Langley who was a professional solider and they had three children, Alec, Emma and Fan. When World War I broke out Langley went abroad to fight, during this time Emma met my g.gd Edward Kyle (we are led to believe he’s surname was originally Lewis) at the ammunitions at Woolwich and done a runner with the children whilst Langley was away and set up home in Silvertown, East London. The three children from the first marriage were bought up along with their children, Edward, Walter, Ronald, Sally, Mille and Terrance. They did not marry until many years later after Langley died, we assume because they did not want to be found by Langley they could not apply for a divorce and Edward Kyle/Lewis changed his name because he was on the run from the army after being sentenced to a firing squad after striking an officer and went on the run after the army refused to let him go to the front line and instead wanted to use him as an example to other solders. If anyone sounds the slightest bit like anyone in your family tree please let me know. Thanks Danny |
