I am trying to trace the origins of my great grandmother ANNIE TURNER 1883 - 1961. She married my great grandfather, EDWIN FRANK LITTLEFIELD in Cosham, Hants, and they had 4 children, IRIS MAY LITTLEFIELD, FRED LITTLEFIELD, HARRY LITTLEFIELD AND KATHLEEN LITTLEFIELD. They moved to Finchley/Potters Bar after Iris was born. Edwin disappeared, apparently shell shocked, after Kathleen was born and Annie raised the children alone. Annie had a sister EMMA TURNER who married GEORGE HAROLD VARLEY in Dewsbury in 1909. Emma (Emmie) - although she may have been Emily? and Annie later moved to Morecambe and ran a boarding house, and Annie stayed there until she died in 1961. Annie's father was alive at the time of her marriage, although I don't know his name or anything else about him, and her mother was called HANNAH TURNER. I have photos of her, so I assume she lived close by in Finchley or that area. Hannah was born in 1852 and died in 1931 in Finchley. My sisters have vague recollections of Annie, that she spoke with an accent, but there is very little else to go on. She died before I was born. If anyone can help fill in the gaps, I would be very grateful, Many thanks, Jo |
