Does anyone have any links to Corfu, Greece around 1834 in their Johnson family history please? My great grandfather Peter Johnson was born in Corfu in 1834. I've spent some time searching various Ionian Records but have been unable to find his birth. The first UK record I have for him (despite searching various census etc records) is his marriage in 1863 to Elizabeth Evans in Swansea, Glamorgan. His father is noted on the marriage certificate as John Johnson, Farmer. In 1834 Corfu the British had a large military presence so possibly John may l have also been in the military? Peter Johnson was a Mariner whose home port was Swansea following his marriage. Peter died in Swansea in 1905. Any ideas/suggestions on ways to break through this 'brick wall' much appreciated.
