Trying to find for five years, Mitchell's of Stamford, Lincolnshire, 1820's to at least 1860's. Thomas Mitchell, b. very early 1800's. He marr. Mary Richardson 1817. She died approx 1824. They had two children, Mary Ann/e Richardson, b.1819 ( marr. Boughton 1839 at Stamford ). John Richardson Mitchell, b. 2nd April 1821, at Water St., St. Martins, Stamford. ( My direct gt gt gdfather ). John lived for 65 years in New Zealand and was an Officer in the 58th Regiment. He marr. Julia Maher at Parramatta, Sydney in 1847. Eight children. Thomas's second marr. was to Susanna/h Pearson 29/09/1825 at St. Mary's Parish, Stamford. They had eleven children. Emma, chr. 1825, Stamford. William, chr. 24/09/1826, at St. George's Parish, Stamford. He was a young soldier in 58th Regiment in New Zealand. It is reputed that he had a son named John who was born approx. 1860, Taranaki, NZ. John married his half cousin, Ann Susan Mitchell and they spent some of their last days together in the Far East. Susannah, chr. 1830, Stamford. Charles, chr. 1831 at Stamford Barron, St. Martin, Northampton. Mary Ann, chr. 1833 at Peterborough. Anne, chr.1834 at New Sleaford. George, chr. 1835 at New Sleaford. Charlotte, chr. 1837, Stamford. was in ' workhouse '. John Thomas, died aged two weeks. Frederick, chr. 1841 at St Michael, Stamford. was in workhouse. Thomas, chr. 1844 at St Michael, Stamford. 58th Regiment; see ' To Face the Daring Maori '. Author M. Barthorp. ISBN 79373358 Thomas and Susanah died in Hull, Yorkshire. Thomas aged 85. Susannah died a few years after him. I would dearly love any info. John R Mitchell. New Zealand.
