Hi I am trying to locate information about John Martin born 29 August 1818. His parents were James born in the 1780s in County Galloway and Elizabeth born in 1780s in Glasgow County Lanarkshire. John went to shcool in London in the late 1820s and emigrated to Adelaide, Australia in the 1840s were he married Hannah Potter in 1849. Hi died in Adelaid in 1866. He and Hannah had children with my great grandmother being the youngest. John and Hannah had other children one son John born 1854 in Adelaide. His whereabouts are unknown. He was last seen by his brother-in-law in Broken Hill Australia toward the end of 19th century or early 20ths centruty after that no oen knows what happened to him. Any information would help. John born in 1818 had six siblings one name Norval (?) Douglas born in 1824 don't know where. We don't know what happened to any of these people as apparently limited contact was maintained after John married and decided to stay in Australia. We believe he was an importer of tea and also served in the colonel regiments. Any help in locating additional relatives and details about these people and their lives would be appreciated Thanks Amanda (I'm in Queensland Australia) |
