Hi Andrew,

I'm not going to be a huge amount of help but I have a James Ward (age 2, b. Hambledon, Surrey) listed in the 1911 census as the nephew of Henry & Gertrude Smart living in Devizes, Wilts. I believe Gertrude's maiden name to have been Ward since I have found Henry & Gertrude's marriage in 1899 in India (used the Families in British India Society website). The 1911 census also lists Gertrude as aged 37 (b.c. 1874) and having been born in London. If Gertrude is nee Ward then James must be the son of one of her brothers. I have no information on Gertrude's birth family so no idea as to who her parents are or indeed her brother, the father of James. It looks very much like your Mabel is my Gertrude's sister-in-law but the linking male remains a mystery!
I would love to know if you manage to solve this.
Regards,
Joanna

Hi Joanna

Welcome to the boards.

As Glitterbaby has said this is an old thread so you could try contacting Andrew by private message.

Click on his name, send your message and keep your fingers crossed that he hasn't changed his personal e.mail address as the one he has registered with Genes is the one your message will be sent to.

Good luck
Chris
