My wife's family name is Taylor, and we have recently found (from the 1901 Census) that her father James (1894) had not one , as we had supposed, but THREE brothers, AND a sister. They were William (1885), Elizabeth A (1888), John F (1893), and Joseph (1897). Their parents were James Francis Taylor (1863) and Elizabeth Sarah McLoughlin (1864). James Francis was a house painter. As far as we know, all the children were born in Manchester. James and Joseph we know all about, but we have nothing on the other siblings except that one of the brothers may have lived in Birmingham. James Francis (17) appears in the 1881 Mcr. census with his widowed father James (70), who was born in Devon in 1811 My wife would be absolutely delighted to make contact with any descendants of her unknown uncles William, John F, and aunt Elizabeth. We still live just inside the Greater Manchester area. Have you looked for your Taylor relatives from Manchester in the 1901 Census yet? |
