I am trying to the trace the parents of Stephen Carter and Eleanor Carter (nee Lee) in 1851 Census had 6 children John14 Elias 14 Emma 12 Stephen 9 Josiah 5 place Lambourne (includes Abridge) Essex my maternal g.g.parents John my g.g.father I believe ended up as a Wine Merchant in London with several Hotels As a complication my grandfather has a birth certificate showing him Victor as the son of John but mother Eliza Carter (nee Severne) although his wife appeared not to have died by then and I can find no trace of such a Severne in records anywhere or of a Carter/Severne marriage .Any clues please |
