I am looking for any one connected to JOHN CHARLES ALLEN b.1879 at Fountains Rd Kirkdale Liverpool. His mother was ALICE HOBSON b.1851 in Manchester later know as MEAKINS. His father GEORGE was a stoker on the SS SCYTHIA and then an engine driver in the docks at Bootle where he was killed in an accident aged 33 in 1884. He had a brother GEORGE and a sister ALICE ( possibly classified as an 'imbecile'). John entered the LIVERPOOL SEAMAN'S ORHAN INSTITUTION in 1888 then joined the ROYAL HORSE ARTILLERY in 1892. He rose to the rank of Major and was mentioned in dispatches. In 1914 he married ETHEL FLORENCE McLEOD in Woolwhich. He died in 1948 in London. |
