Looking for any info on William Wilson, born c1852. Had a sister Alison born 1854,and parents were Susan Robertson and Alexander Wilson. William's granddaughter, my late Auntie Chrissie, used to tell me that William Wilson should have been the rightful Earl of Airlie, but due to a family disagreement the title bypassed his branch and went down a different line. I am sure this was wishful thinking by someone, but they say no smoke without fire. Unfortunately I can find no trace of William's birth in the Scottish records, so cannot investigate where the rumour came from. The Airlies are not called Wilson, so this does not help. Does anyone have any suggestions? |
