I am trying to find any information of Alexander Anderson who came to Australia with his wife Ann Jane from Salt Lake City USA. Their son Robert was the first white child born on the Turon Gold Fields - the the head of the Shoalhaven River NSW. He was born in 1853. Robert had an older sister, Winifred who died in her early teens - or maybe a little later. Alexander sailed back to America on business, leaving his young family in Sydney. A little while later Ann Jane received news that Alexander had been killed in America. Ann Jane later married a Mr. Atkinson. They had a son. Mr. Atkinson lost his life when a fire burned down his saw mill and home. Robert liked his stepfather as he taught him to read and write. Robert Anderson whent on to marry Margaret Mary Daniel. |
