Hi there My Gt.Grandfather died on 18th March 1907 as Reuben Cunliffe OTHERWISE Green. Reuben Cunliffe (from Salford, Manchester) married Elizabeth Shelmerdine (from Cheadle, Moseley, Cheshire) at St.Matthews Church, Liverpool Road, Salford, Manchester on 22nd June 1856. My Gt.Grandmother died on 17th October 1886 as Elizabeth Cunliffe. Census 1861, 1871, 1881 and 1901 all the family come under the name of GREEN. My Grandfather Robert Green was christened as Robert Cunliffe and he was born on 24th February 1861 in Salford, Manchester. Other member of the family, all christened as CUNLIFFE but appear on Census as GREEN were, Harriet born 1857 in Salford, Manchester Sarah Jane born 1860 in Salford, James born 1862 in Salford, Ann Green born 1864 in Winton, Eccles, Manchester. Can any person please help me find my ancestors or explain why the names were changed from CUNLIFFE to GREEN Thank you Brian Green |
