Some of the Holborn Bakers of c1800 established themselves in Islington c1828.
William Henry Baker (1852) and George (1864) raised families in Shoreditch, whilst Mark (1850) stayed in Barnsbury (the posh end of Islington) until son Mark (1877) married in W.Ham.

There's an awful lotta Bakers out there!

I don't know nuttin firsthand -- but if this is Ernest Henry Baker:

Name: Ernest H Baker
Year of Registration: 1915
Quarter of Registration: Apr-May-Jun
Mother's Maiden Name: Boultwood
District: St Pancras (1902-1977)
County: Greater London, London
Volume: 1b
Page: 15

then his mother could have been Jessie Boultwood who married:

Name: Jessie Boultwood
Year of Registration: 1910
Quarter of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec
District: Holborn
County: London, Middlesex
Volume: 1b
Page: 1134

... we don't know whom, because there's a glitch in the transcription and there are 2 brides but 1 groom shown for that page.

And no male Baker comes up on a search for that quarter in Holborn.

Oh aargh; another thread over a year old. Trevor, you should PM the OP!
