I am trying to find anyone who my have information concerning my grandfather :- William Roberts . Born :-02/02/1904 Mother :-Rebecca Roberts Place of Birth - Union Workhouse , West Bromwich . His mother was a brickmaker from Oldbury. There is no Father named. There is some verbal history. Rebecca did marry after his birth ,no idea of her married name . Rebecca was unable to care for William ,he ran away to family in the Dudley area, they cared for him for awhile ,then he returned to Rebecca. He ran away again ,but this time joined the army,he lied about his age . Spent most of his army life in India. Settled in Plymouth and married my grandmother Winifred Rowe. There is mention of a possible uncle called Silas or Solomon Roberts Two cousins who visited Plymouth in the early 1960's called Phyliss and Mary. A relative that was high up in the police force in Wolverhampton. Another relation who was hurt in a Gas Tanker explosion again in the 1960's. Rebecca died in 1944/45 and is buried in an unmarked grave somewhere in Wolverhampton. Sound anything like your family history, does the bits of my jigsaw fit into yours . |
