Hello, I'm trying to trace the ancestors of THOMAS JOHNSON born in AUDLEY STAFFORDSHIRE in 1841. His mother was HANNAH JOHNSON born in Audley 1821 but I don't know if she was married to a Johnson or if she had him illegitimately. She (re)married in 1843 to a JOSEPH MALKIN and went on to have several more children. Philip, Mary, Georgina, Albina, Levina & Frederick. Fred was blind. I am trying to prove if ISAAC JOHNSON 1796 Audley Staffs is actually my Thomas's grandad, and who is father was. If anyone has access to the 1841 census for Halmer End area of Staffs I think this would help me a lot. In 1851 Hannah & Joseph were living in Halmer End, Staffs with Thomas listed as their Step-son aged 10. Also living with them as lodgers were Isaac Johnson (widowed) 1796 & John Johnson 1825. I *think* these were either Hannahs previous in-laws or her actual father/brother. I can't prove this as yet. In 1861 Isaac was still living with them and Thomas was shown as Thomas Malkin aged 20. In 1871 Thomas had married Theo(dosia) Winkle/Winckler and had Henry 1864 (our gggrandad -he married Mercy Ann and moved to SOUTH KIRKBY in West Yorkshire as a Coal Miner); Jesse 1867; Thomas 1870; Elizabeth 1874; Theodosia 1876; and Emily 1880. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Mags_johnson at y a h o o d o t c o d o t u k
