My grandfather was born WILLIAM HALL in london 1888 with a sister called either Nellie/Ellen. He changed his surname to MALTBY sometime before he married my grandmother Amelia IVERMEE in 1916. We think he had a step brother called George MALTBY. HIs sister went onto marry a man whose surname was STAUB and produce three children. MY grandfather had at least 7 children 5 who still remain. Do i trace the HALL link or MALTBY? I understand that he may have taken the name MALTBY from his mothers maiden name. her first name may have been Nellie/Ellen. Unfortunatley I have no other info on my gransfather and would like to find out more IE his fathers name and other relations! If anyone is familiar with this story or names please contact me I will be most grateful, as he is my missing link at the moment. Regards Sue Hart |

Hi Susan - just found your message - hope you are still using this forum! I can't help with the HALL/MALTBY but I am very interested in your IVERMEE - it's quite an unusual name. I have Sarah IVERMEE who married BURGESS and her sisters Caroline and Mary Ann. Mother was Mary Ann. Sarah was born pre 1837 so quite a bit before your Amelia but I wondered if you had anything that might give me some clues! |
