I am trying to find more information about my grx2 grandfather, JOHN ROBERTS, who according to every census from 1871 - 1901, was born in Leek, Staffordshire in 1844. (Cannot find him on 1851 or 1861 census). He was a railway engine driver all his working life and also at the time of his death in 1901, had a beer house in Holly Street, Sheffield. He married SARAH ANN WEEKS (nee BADMAN) in 1894 in Sheffield but they had been together since approx 1869 and had seven children. SARAH ANN had previously been married to WILLIAM WEEKS and both were from Somerset. They had two children together, WLLIAM HENRY WEEKS and MARY ANN WEEKS. JOHN ROBERTS' birth isn't registered and I can't find a baptism for him either. According to his marriage certificate in 1894 his father was PETER ROBERTS (farm labourer, deceased). JOHN ROBERTS and SARAH ANN had the following children: JAMES HENRY - b. 1869 Ilkeston, Derbyshire ALBERT EDWIN - b. 1872 Whitwell, Derbyshire JANE - b. 1874 Baildon, Yorkshire JOHN - b. 1876, Tugby, Leics GEORGE HERBERT - b. 1879 Loddington, Leics ROSE - b. 1885 Bristol (died 1895 Sheffield) THOMAS b. 1888 Bristol If anyone has any information about any of the above, I'd be happy to hear from you.
