Hi, THOMAS' IN TASMANIA. Trying to get some information about my maternal g-grandfather Charles Edward Thomas believed to have been born Sept. 05, 1835, don't know where. Think he came to Australia about 1858 and married Emma Lucas. They had 8 children, all born in Emu Bay, Tasmania. Leslie Lucas Henry Thomas b. 1882, Isabella Amy Thomas b. 1884, Carl Edwin and Eva Victoria Thomas (twins) b. 1886, James Thomas b. not known, Arthur Thomas B. not known Amy Evelyn and Oliver William Thomas (twins) b. 1888 d. 1889 in infancy. I'd like to know what ship he came to Australia on and anything about his family who remained in the UK. Carl Edwin was my grandfather and he married Elsie Ruth Brown, (b. Waratah Tas. 1891) about 1913. He was a timber-getter until he was seriously injured and forced to retire. Anything you have would be most gratefully accepted.
