WATSONS FROM CENTRAL SCOTLAND: Hi everyone I am totally new to this side of things I am trying to discover my family roots. My grandfather a John Watson b1901c Glasgow was a miner at Auchengeich pit until its disaster in 1959 in which 47 of his mates where killed. He married my grandmother a Annie Robertson b1901c from the Fife area. They settled and set up home in Bridgend near Moodiesburn, a mining community They had 5 children Robert (Bobbie) William Jack a head gardner Alexander died in infancy and my father James (Jimmy) Watson b1935 a master carpenter married my mother a Maureen Alice Morrison a nurse from the Royal infirmary in Glasgow. They had 3 sons Jim b1966 Alan b 1968 and John (me) b1964 My father tells me that my grandmother had a brother called Alex who was a fisherman and a cousin called Thomasina all from the Fife area. Any help much appreciated Sorry for being so long winded )) John |
