John Wilfred Cook, My Dad served in the RAF from the age of 17 until he was demobed at Wellesbourne Airodrome, Warwickshire in about 1950. He was stationed at Duxford, and Dimchurch and various other stations around the country. He served 12 years in all. I am trying to find out what he actually did during the war. I know he was a Flight Sergeant and he was an Aero Engineer. I know two people he served with, as we saw a lot of them when I was young. One was a Ron Stone, who lived in Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands and the other was Douglas Fox, who lived in Warwick and ended up living in Loxley, Stratford-on-Avon. I was always led to believe that he was a Rear Gunner, but there seems to be some dispute over that now and I don't know where to look for his RAF records. I have sadly lost touch with these people, but would dearly love to know exactly what he did. My brother is convinced that he was a Rear Gunner so it would be great to know, one way or another. Can anyone help me please? Jennifer Blakeman (Cook) daughter. |
